SR Hybrid Mast

For nearly two years, the SR Mast project has been one of the most ambitious undertakings in F4 history and undoubtedly the largest research and development investment we have ever made.

The potential of hybrid mast architecture was impossible to ignore. The results seen in high-performance Moth racing demonstrated a new path forward for hydrofoil design, but weight, safety, cost, and compliance with World Sailing regulations presented challenges that could not be overlooked. Our mission became clear: deliver the geometry, drag reduction, and wetted surface area advantages of a hybrid mast in the most elegant, practical, and accessible package possible.

The result is the SR.

Built on the same groundbreaking architecture as our race-proven 108 Hybrid Mast, the SR represents a fundamental shift in how a hydrofoil interacts with the water and, more importantly, how a rider interacts with the foil.

While the speed and efficiency gains are remarkable, what truly drove our excitement throughout development was something much harder to measure. The SR allows you to experience your foil in a way that traditional mast designs simply cannot.

By dramatically reducing the "rudder effect" created by conventional mast profiles, the SR creates a more direct and natural connection between rider and foil. Turns become cleaner. Transitions become smoother. The foil responds with a level of freedom that feels almost unreal. The sensation is immediate, and once experienced, impossible to forget.

The result is what riders often describe as a true "magic carpet" ride. An unedited connection to the foil. Pure glide. Pure feedback. Pure enjoyment.

The benefits extend far beyond feel alone. The SR's unique geometry significantly reduces drag and wetted surface area, helping riders conserve energy during long downwind runs, accelerate more efficiently, and maintain speed through powerful carving turns. During testing, one thing became increasingly clear. The impact of the SR is not incremental. The shift we experienced with the introduction of our AX Skinny Mast series nearly two years ago was significant, but the SR takes that evolution to an entirely different level. Every rider who has spent time on an SR prototype has come back with the same reaction: it fundamentally changes the way foiling feels.

And then there is the visual impact.

An 85 mm wide mast does not go unnoticed. Arrive at the beach with an SR and chances are you'll spend more time answering questions than getting to the water. Its appearance is striking, but what truly leaves an impression is what happens once you start riding.

The SR is more than a new mast.
